The "black hose trick" is a simple and inexpensive way to heat a swimming pool using the sun's energy. Here's how it works:


Obtain a black garden hose that is long enough to reach from a sunny location to your pool.


Unroll the hose in a straight line in a sunny area. Make sure it is completely straight and without any kinks.


Connect one end of the hose to a water source, such as a garden hose spigot.


Turn on the water and let it run through the hose until all of the air has been expelled.


Place the other end of the hose in the pool, making sure it is fully submerged and weighted down to keep it in place.
